The prophets were the preachers of the Old Testament. The minor prophets were no less important than the major prophets. They were minor only in the sense that their messages and writings were relatively shorter in length than the major prophets. In fact, the minor prophets held incredible nuggets of truth which describe the shape of God’s rule in the world and what our response should be. The minor prophets also balance the reality of judgment, with a great emphasis on God’s love and mercy, and the hope for living that is available to each one of us. They embody glimpses of the coming Messiah and the great message of grace. They are like hidden treasures waiting to be opened!
